Evangelism in Pakistan · By Rev. Dr. Naeem Nasir, Founding President, Good Samaritan Ministries · October 2026
Evangelism in Pakistan is not a programme. It is the heartbeat of a living Church. In a nation where Christians are fewer than two in every hundred people, believers are still doing what the Lord Jesus commanded: going into the cities, towns and villages and proclaiming the Good News to every creature. Across the country, churches in Pakistan, Christian organisations in Pakistan and Christian ministries in Pakistan are working faithfully, often quietly and often at great cost, so that every person may hear the name of Jesus Christ. At the centre of this work stand the Revival Crusades and Gospel Crusades that have become part of the life of the Church in Pakistan.
What does evangelism in Pakistan look like?
Evangelism in Pakistan happens in many ways, and most of it is quiet and faithful. A pastor visits a family whose child is sick and prays with them. A young believer gives an Urdu Bible to a friend. A small house fellowship gathers in a courtyard to worship, read the Word and pray for their street. A church opens its doors to a family that has lost everything.
Alongside this daily witness, the Church in Pakistan holds open-air meetings where people gather in large numbers to hear the Gospel. Pakistani Christians call these meetings Revival Crusades and Gospel Crusades. For many people, a crusade is the first time they hear the message of Jesus Christ preached clearly in their own language.
What is a Revival Crusade?
A Revival Crusade is an open-air meeting of worship, preaching and prayer. Most crusades in Pakistan are held on a single day, usually in the evening, in a city ground, a village field or a church compound. One day of worship and the preached Word can change a family, a street and sometimes a whole village.
The host church or the organisers usually arrange transport. Buses and vans bring people from the surrounding towns and villages, and believers travel long distances to be there. Many arrive hours early to find a place to sit. Believers bring their families, friends and neighbours, and so a crusade becomes an opportunity for many seekers to hear the Gospel, to join a local church and to grow in faith.
A crusade meeting follows a simple pattern:
- Worship in Urdu and Punjabi, with the praises of God filling the open air
- Prayer and intercession for Pakistan, for families and for the sick
- Preaching of the Word: the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, repentance, faith and eternal life
- Prayer for the sick, and many testify to the healing power of God
- The altar call, an open invitation for all who wish to repent and receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour
The word “revival” matters to Pakistani Christians. A Revival Crusade is not only for those who have never heard the Gospel. It is also a day when believers are renewed, those who have drifted away return to the Lord, and whole congregations are set on fire again for Jesus Christ.

Gospel Crusades: thousands hear the Good News
Gospel Crusades in Pakistan come in many sizes. A large crusade in a city ground may gather from 1,000 to 10,000 people or more in a single evening. Smaller gatherings are just as important. Street meetings and tent meetings of 100 to 500 people are very effective, because they reach a neighbourhood or a village closely, and the people who come can be visited and cared for by the local church in the days that follow.
From Lahore and Karachi to Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Multan and hundreds of villages in between, Gospel Crusades are held throughout the year. Thousands hear the Good News, the sick are prayed for, and many respond to the altar call.
Behind every crowd is a person. A father who had lost all hope. A mother who came for prayer for her sick child. A young man who heard for the first time that God loves him. These are the stories that make every crusade worth the prayer, the planning and the sacrifice.

How is a one-day Gospel Crusade prepared?
A crusade lasts one day, but it does not begin on that day. It begins in the prayer room, weeks and months before.
- Prayer. The host church and its partners pray for the city, for open hearts, and for protection and provision.
- Choosing the place. A ground, field or church compound is chosen where people from the surrounding area can gather.
- Inviting the people. Pastors and believers invite their families, friends and neighbours, and neighbouring churches bring their congregations.
- Transport. The host church or organisers arrange buses and vans so that families from distant towns and villages can come.
- Preparing the ground. Sound, lighting, the stage, seating and Urdu Bibles are arranged in advance.
- The crusade. An evening of worship, preaching, prayer for the sick and the altar call.
- Follow-up. People who respond are prayed with, their details are taken, and they are connected to a local church near their home.
After the crusade: from a decision to a disciple
A crusade gathers a crowd, but a church keeps a family. That is why follow-up is the most important part of evangelism in Pakistan.
New believers and seekers are given an Urdu Bible, often the first Bible their family has ever owned. Local pastors visit them in their homes, pray with them and invite them to worship. In places where there is no church nearby, a house fellowship begins, and many of these fellowships grow into new congregations. This is how churches in Pakistan continue to grow, one family at a time.

How the Gospel is shared in Pakistan today
Evangelism in Pakistan is growing in new ways while keeping the old ways that have always worked.
- Urdu Bibles. Placing the Word of God in Urdu into the hands of families remains one of the most powerful ways the Gospel spreads. One Bible often reaches a whole family.
- Trained pastors and evangelists. Bible colleges and training programmes across the country are preparing a new generation of pastors, evangelists and church planters.
- Village pastors. Faithful pastors travel by motorbike, bicycle and on foot to reach several villages in a week.
- Phones and the internet. Bible apps, online teaching and worship in Urdu now reach believers who cannot keep a printed Bible at home or travel to a church.
- Personal witness. Above all, the Gospel spreads from one life to another, as believers share what Jesus has done for them with their families and neighbours.
Who carries the Gospel in Pakistan?
The greatest strength of evangelism in Pakistan is its own people. Pakistani pastors and evangelists know the language, the culture and the needs of their communities. They preach in Urdu and Punjabi, they understand the struggles of poor families, and they stay long after a crusade ends.
We thank God for every church in Pakistan, every Christian organisation in Pakistan and every Christian ministry in Pakistan that is doing the great work of the Lord. Pastors who serve with little income, evangelists who travel to distant villages, Bible teachers, worship leaders, Sunday school teachers, intercessors and volunteers are carrying the Gospel to every corner of the nation. Their faithfulness is a testimony to the whole world, and together they are one Body of Christ in Pakistan.
How can you be part of evangelism in Pakistan?
- Pray for the churches, pastors and evangelists of Pakistan, for open hearts, and for protection for believers.
- Pray for the next Revival Crusade in Pakistan, that many will hear the Gospel and find new life in Jesus Christ.
- Share this article with your church, your prayer group and your friends, so that more believers around the world pray for Pakistan.
- Stand with the Christian ministries in Pakistan that are carrying the Gospel to places where it has not yet been heard.
Missionaries from around the world
Evangelism in Pakistan is not only the work of Pakistani believers. Missionaries, evangelists and pastors from the USA, Europe, Africa, Brazil and all over the world visit Pakistan to preach the Gospel. They coordinate with their local representatives and partner churches in Pakistan, who prepare the ground, arrange the transport and invite the people, and together they organise Gospel Crusades and Revival Crusades to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. The visiting preacher brings fresh encouragement, the local church stays to care for every new believer, and Pakistani Christians welcome their guests with warm hospitality as brothers and sisters in Christ.
Wherever you are reading this, in America, Europe, Africa, Latin America or anywhere in the world, you are part of this story. Your prayers strengthen pastors who serve under pressure. Your partnership places Urdu Bibles in the hands of families, brings buses full of people to a crusade ground and keeps the sound running until the last prayer is prayed. The Church in Pakistan is not alone, because the Body of Christ around the world stands with it.
Good Samaritan Ministries is grateful to be one small part of this work. Since 2009, together with local churches across Pakistan, we have held Gospel Crusades and Revival Crusades, given free Urdu Bibles, planted churches and trained pastors and evangelists, and we have welcomed mission teams from many nations, serving beside them as their local partner so that a decision at a crusade becomes a disciple in a church.
