Twelve Years of Persecution of Pakistani Christians: Why Thousands of Pakistani Christians Are Still Suffering Even After Fleeing Pakistan!

A Violent Beginning That Has Never Ended

Pakistani Christian homes and churches in Joseph Colony Lahore burned during March 2013 mob attack forcing families to flee in fear

The persecution of Christians in Pakistan took a devastating turn in 2013 with a series of shocking attacks that changed the lives of tens of thousands. The destruction of Joseph Colony in March 2013, followed by the Peshawar church bombing in September 2013, marked the beginning of a long and painful period of persecution. Christians hoped the international community would intervene, but instead the violence intensified. In March 2015, churches in Lahore were bombed, killing innocent worshippers once again. From that moment, many families began fleeing to survive, thinking they would finally be safe—but their suffering continues even today.

Escaping Pakistan, but Not Escaping Persecution

Thousands of Christian families fled to Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Thailand believing they would be protected under international human rights laws. But instead of safety, many found themselves living with no rights, no legal status, and no hope for permanent resettlement. Their lives have become a daily struggle—families hiding in small rooms, pastors living in fear of deportation, and children growing up without schooling, documentation or a future. After more than twelve years of fear, uncertainty, and suffering, these believers still wait for justice.

From Jaranwala to the Murder of Kamran Salamat—The Crisis Continues

Even those who stayed in Pakistan continue to face persecution, discrimination and violent attacks, including the Jaranwala mob attack of 2023 that burned churches and Christian homes. Most recently, the murder of Kamran Salamat on 5 December 2025 is a reminder that violence against Christians in Pakistan is not history—it is happening right now. The world must understand that Christian persecution in Pakistan is not temporary, isolated, or accidental—it is continuous, increasing and deeply rooted in social, political and religious hostility.

Children Growing Up Without Identity, Education or Protection

One of the greatest tragedies is the generation of children trapped in stateless situations. Many were toddlers when their families fled, and they have now grown up without schools, legal identity, or medical care. These children have no place they can legally call home. They cannot go to school, cannot travel, cannot receive proper medical care, and cannot plan for a future. Without intervention, thousands of Christian children may live their entire lives in legal limbo and generational poverty.

Why the Global Church MUST Become Their Voice

The Bible teaches us that the body of Christ is one body with many members. When one part suffers, the entire body suffers with it. Millions of Christians around the world attend church each week in freedom, but many do not know their brothers and sisters in Pakistan are suffering silently for more than twelve years. Christian nations, churches, and leaders must use their influence to advocate for permanent protection, resettlement opportunities, support for education, and emergency humanitarian assistance. Silence is no longer acceptable for the global Christian family.

PRAYER – by Rev. Dr. Naeem Nasir

I pray in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ for every persecuted believer in Pakistan, and for every Christian who fled seeking refuge but continues to suffer. Lord Jesus, have mercy. Strengthen their faith, protect their families, open doors of safety, justice and resettlement. Move the hearts of Christian leaders, churches and nations around the world to respond urgently. Let Your Church unite as one body and stand together in love and compassion for Your suffering children. In Jesus’ mighty Name, Amen.

Join Us in Supporting Christian Families

Good Samaritan Ministries (www.gsministries.org) has been helping persecuted families for many years; however, the urgent need is increasing dramatically.

As we prepare for 2026, we must focus on rescuing children who are growing up without education, medical care, or legal rights. Families are living in desperation—your support can change their future. We invite you to stand with us, pray with us, and help us provide education, medical needs, and safe pathways for Christian families who are suffering for the Name of Jesus.

This is our time to be the Good Samaritan.
